Public transportation

The easiest option is to take the train from Helsinki to Kajaani and then continue from there by bus to Hyrynsalmi. If you plan to arrive without a car, arrangements can be made to pick you up from the town of Hyrynsalmi or from Kajaani.

Driving

Route 1:
When arriving from Kajaani, drive towards Kuusamo until you reach Hyrynsalmi. From Hyrynsalmi follow the signs leading toward Ukkohalla. At Ukkohalla do not turn towards the ski resort, but continue driving ahead on the asphalt route toward Paljakka. 5 km after Ukkohalla there is sign to the left JYRKKÄ. Turn there. Drive up the steep hill and continue for 5 km until you reach Mustarinda on the right.

Route 2:
When arriving from Oulu, drive towards Kajaani. Around Utajärvi turn towards Puolanka. Drive through Puolanka towards Paltamo until there there is a HOIKANVAARA sign on the left. Follow this route until you reach an UKKOHALLA sign on the left. Turn here and follow this route for 9 km and turn right when there is a JYRKKÄ sign. Drive up the steep hill and continue for 5 km until you reach Mustarinda on the right.

Please note that Paljakka ski resort is on the opposite side of Paljakka hill from Mustarinda. There is 20 km from Mustarinda to Paljakka.
